Rafflesia Arnoldi

Indonesia consist of many island, from the biggest to the smalles. And Indonesia has many kind of flora species, it can we found in every island in Indonesia, which one is Rafflesia Arnoldi. Rafflesia Arnoldi is one of rare flower because it need very long time in reproducing. Many people call Rafflesia Arnoldi “corpse flower” , because it smell is like a corpse. Rafflesia Arnoldi has some parts, there are flower, main root, and stem. Some times the flower of Rafflesia Arnoldi look like their was die but it main root is still alive and grow under the ground. Rafflesia Arnoldi eat green flies because insect has many nitrogen and Rafflesia Arnoldi need it. The smell of Rafflesia Arnoldi can make green flies intrest and the green flies will attached into the central part of Rafflesia Arnoldi’s flower is very sticky. In 19th century sir Thomas Stanford Raffles and Jonatan Arnold discovered Rafflesia Arnoldi for the first time in rainforest of Bengkulu, and Rafflesia Arnoldi is endemic to rainforest in Sumatra and Kalimantan , but now it can easily found in Bogor Botanical Garden. The name of Rafflesia Arnoldi is based on the name who discover it that is Rafflesi and Arnold, and it becomes to Rafflesia Arnoldi. Rafflesia Arnoldi is one of many famous plant in the world, except it the rare flower it also has many reason why its unusual, the first is their size is very big it can grow into 1 meter in diameter, 2 meter in high, and it can 11 kg in weight, any reason is because their smell is so bad and stingy, and Rafflesia Arnoldi just flowering once in ten year. When Rafflesia Arnoldi is flowering, their bad smell is out very strong. In this phase, the flower look like die along the year.
